ABSTRACTS
Winter Garden Series
For this exhibition I moved away from the vibrant colours of past works. In restricting myself to essentially black, white, grey and earth tones, I am creating a wintry mood with a focus on composition, contrast and texture.
I have been observing, sketching and painting plants in my winter garden for three winters now. I find a poignant beauty in the way they stand, bend, break, fall and cross over each other through rain, wind, frost and snow. The random configurations that result have an integrity and structural beauty that attract my eye.
